So here’s the deal: we thought we were going to be able to finish up on Tuesday, as we only had four more songs to do for vocals, not taking into account the sheer volume of vocal layering and back ups we have in those four songs. So once again, we had to schedule another night.
Onto Wednesday. Last night, right? Wrong! Following an extended trip by Corey into the booth for his last song and some impromptu back up vocal additions, we realized there are a couple songs that at this point were a bit lackluster and overall just weren’t up to par with the rest of the album.
So rather than take what little time we had left that night, we’ve now scheduled another trip in to get it done, after we’ve had some time to polish these couple songs.
Despite the small setback, we are ecstatic with what we’ve done, and we can’t wait for the world to hear our hard work!
If you’ve kept track of our Facebook or Twitter feeds, you know that we went into the studio this past weekend to record our first full length album; and, in between lengthy discussions of farting and un-bleached assholes in midget porn, we did manage to get some recording done.
We “narrowed” our list of songs we wanted to record down to 14, knowing full well that this was a nearly impossible task for a two-day session. However, before Saturday was up we had all the music fully recorded and two songs worth of vocals done. We tried to do more, but when 10:30 rolled around, Corey, having been up since 5:30 a.m., looked like he might have if he ran a marathon drunk—hell, probably even a couple miles with how out of shape he is. So we decided to call ‘er a night.
Sunday was all about vocals, and we went at it with the strength of a thousand hungry truck stop hookers. Lo and behold, we cranked out all but four songs, which we’re hoping to get done in the next couple days, depending upon the schedule of our trusty engineer, Joe Freeland, who thinks the Harley anniversary festival is more important than getting a record finished for an unsigned local band. Pish posh. (Just kidding, Joe.)
Unfortunately, we don’t have pictures. Well, we do, but they’re all blurry. How does that happen when we sat down for most of it? Good question. Ask Ryan.
Until next time, keep kicking ass.
